At every stage of educational development in our beloved country, we note the wise leadership's commitment to keeping pace with global changes and meeting future needs. The recent updates to secondary school education tracks, announced by the Ministry of Education, represent a strategic step aimed at enabling our students to choose the paths that best suit their interests and abilities, preparing them for the evolving demands of the job market.
Educational Pathways Updates
Starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, third-cycle students will be able to choose specific educational tracks that align with their university and career aspirations. The educational tracks have been redesigned to include:
- General Track: Students on the general track will be taught the foundations of scientific subjects, ensuring they develop their skills and talents to study various disciplines in the fields of humanities and literature, business administration, law, arts, social sciences, and police.
- Advanced Track: This track deepens knowledge in scientific subjects, qualifying students to pursue specializations such as engineering, medicine, pharmacy, and applied sciences.
These updates follow field studies and analysis of student trends, and aim to enhance students' abilities to keep pace with future labor market changes.
The role of academic advising
The Ministry emphasizes the importance of eighth-grade students determining their academic path in line with their university aspirations. A guide has been issued for parents and students detailing these updates, while academic advisors are being activated to provide support and guidance to students.
In this context, I would like to highlight one of the national projects I have the honor of founding and managing: the "Badhra" platform for academic, psychological, and social guidance . This Emirati initiative aims to empower young people to make confident and informed educational and professional decisions by providing reliable content, interactive workshops, and individual consultations that support students at various stages of their education. At "Badhra," we believe that guidance is not a luxury, but a necessity for building a generation that knows itself before choosing its major and possesses the tools to make smart choices in a rapidly changing world.
